problems with cloudflare

hi guys, how are you?

 

I believe that like many here, I use cloudflare as a CDN for my emby that is in VPS.

 

It turns out that on weekends I have been perceiving a very large latency through cloudflare.

 

I tested it in my city and in other cities through friends and we realized that when playing using cloudflare on weekends, it is really very bad, but if we use the vps ip directly it works very well.

 

I would like to know if there is anyone who is going through or has gone through this that could help.

I'm 99% sure what you coud do is run your emby server via Cloudflare, but run streams direct?.

 

So Emby UI and images etc are all cached via Cloudflare but streaming video files etc go direct to your server and bypass cloudflare servers...

 

Believe you have to setup page rules for this too work... someone else may have a better idea.

Through help here on the forum I can configure.

 

In the week, everything works very well. No problem.

 

The problem occurs only on weekends, even with access traffic at the same level as on weekdays.

doesn't mean cloudflare's network isnt having bandwidth issues on the weekend, maybe the point you hop on their network is congested.

What bitrates are you streaming?

 

I've been using CF for months streaming mostly 5 - 10mbit files with no problems at all. Only time I ever noticed an issue was when I tried direct playing a much larger file.

If u run free account CF does not prioritize your traffic on POP data centers that you are using. If on weekend traffic goes up on that POP datacenter free accounts would be last in line, which is normal. 

 

Have a backup, get wireguard server vpn on your vps, put it on port 80, so u have 2 options always to connect. Wireguard is really fast.

 

If only emby would support server profiles so you could do fast switch from apps to Cloudflare or to vpn profile, but now its not possible, i asked for this in request section.
