imdb vs thetvdb question

When these two sites differ on a show's episode order, do I have to choose just one of them for metadata?  It seems even if I manually correct one of the link ids, they won't work properly unless one is left blank.

Not a big deal if I can't use both in a situation like this, but just want to know if that's the path I should be taking moving forward.

Nothing comes directly from IMDB, but yes you have to have your media ordered the way the provider has it.  There a lot of series that have issues with say seasons by year on TVDB and by season x on TMDB.

So in the end you have to make a decision on fetcher order and how your media is named and possibly having to lock the series do to these provider conflicts.

Ideally a per show provider selection could resolve this issue.

I have TMDB checked to draw metadata from, but for individual episodes, if I click "Edit Metadata" it only lists a link for IMDB and TVDB.

A link where?

I guess we never added that for tmdb episodes, or maybe there isn't' one, i'd have to check. it might just be based on season and episode numbers.

I think it is definitely based on the season and episode numbers.  In my experience so far, it will only draw information from the season and episode in the file name, even if corrected in the metadata.  It will ignore the correction for what the filename says.

Is there any way to properly label the episodes that differ?

For example,  I have episodes from this show from across multiple seasons:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0212699/?ref_=fn_al_tt_7

But on thetvdb it's all crammed into one season:

https://thetvdb.com/series/thirty-minute-theatre/seasons/official/1

How should I label the filename or edit the metadata to pull the info from thetvdb, but also have them sorted into the proper seasons?

Currently you can't, you would have to follow tvdb.
