Jazzer 2 Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 (edited) Good afternoon eveyone. Recently I formatted my pc and reinstalled emby, everything was going fine until I submitted a picture for my profile pic, since that emby doesn't work anymore, I can't access options, movies, tv shows, everything shows an endless loading screen that results in a connection refused, even in localhost. Of course my router ports stopped working and now my Emby server can't be accessed external nor internal way. It's frustraiting because I don't want to reinstall Emby again, took me hours to put everything like it was before formatting my pc. I have tried to restart Emby server, my PC and router but nothing works PD: Sorry if I wrote something wrong, english is not my first language PD2: Sorry for my inactivity Luke, I didn't remember my password Edited February 13, 2020 by Jazzer
Luke 42079 Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Hi there, can you please attach the emby server log? You can learn how to do that here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
Jazzer 2 Posted February 13, 2020 Author Posted February 13, 2020 Oh yes, I forgot about the log Here it is. I added the last 2 logs. embyserver.txt embyserver-63717235120.txt
Jazzer 2 Posted February 13, 2020 Author Posted February 13, 2020 Reading the logs I noticed something strange, It might have caused the problem, The logs always end saying: Getting image size for item User C:\Users\JazzerJavi\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\config\users\f78bd7c4308f4f81a02ec5ffe2f86db5\poster.jfif Maybe if I delete the poster.jfif on the User folder my server will stop crashing?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 That is what I was going to suggest as both logs stop on that image and try to process it 54+ times.
Jazzer 2 Posted February 13, 2020 Author Posted February 13, 2020 (edited) And... How do I fix that? Edit: Inside the User folder there is only a policy archive, nothing about an image Edited February 13, 2020 by Jazzer
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 And... How do I fix that? Edit: Inside the User folder there is only a policy archive, nothing about an image Well if the image does not exist, this becomes a database issue. Can you try adding a poster.jfif to that folder?
Jazzer 2 Posted February 13, 2020 Author Posted February 13, 2020 Well if the image does not exist, this becomes a database issue. Can you try adding a poster.jfif to that folder? Nope, That didn't work, the log stills trying to get image size
Luke 42079 Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Can you try taking an ordinary jpeg, then renaming it to that file name with extension and putting it in place there? See if that stops the crash. Thanks.

See if that stops the crash. Thanks. This didn't work, I placed the jpeg image first, but is also crashing, when I renamed the extension to jfif I managed to enter my server and now I can access network settings, general settings and so, even watch movies, but as soon as I enter User settings the server crash again. I think I will have to reinstall emby server and start over again, I will do it tomorrow and will post here if reinstalling solves the problem, thanks for the support Edit: Entering to Nfo Metadata also crashes, don't know why Edited February 14, 2020 by Jazzer
Luke 42079 Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Can you get far enough to the user profile configuration to delete the image?
Jazzer 2 Posted February 14, 2020 Author Posted February 14, 2020 Can you get far enough to the user profile configuration to delete the image? No, A soon as I click on Users the server stops responding
Jazzer 2 Posted February 14, 2020 Author Posted February 14, 2020 I can confirm that reinstalling solved the problem, though I had to redone everything.
Luke 42079 Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Thanks for the feedback and apologies for the disruption. We'll try to find out why this happened. If you still have that jfif image and could zip it up and attach here, that would be helpful. Thanks.

Sorry I deleted the image after reinstalling emby and I got it from google, so i dont remember exactly the one that caused the problem.
Jinhjy 2 Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 (edited) Thanks for the feedback and apologies for the disruption. We'll try to find out why this happened. If you still have that jfif image and could zip it up and attach here, that would be helpful. Thanks. Hey so same thing happened to break my server twice, when an admin of mine attempted to upload the same picture as their pfp. I attached the photo for your examination. Deleting the photo from their user folder (inside \config\users\), and then removing the "users.db-shm" and "users.db-wal" (from \data\). Then restarting my server seemed to get the server going again. jfifPicture.7z Edited February 18, 2020 by Jinhjy
ray-finkle 10 Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Ran into the same issue today on the new 4.4.0.40 release. @@Jinhjy instructions seems to resolve the issue without any detriment. I had already tried just removing the .jfif file from the user directory which did not help. Deleting the two temporary user db files is what seems to have done the trick. @@Luke see the attached culprit file. P.S. - How the heck do I tag someone in the web forums? Seems like it only works in tapatalk... th.7z
Luke 42079 Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Thank you for following up and supplying the test image. I will look into it.
igeoorge 26 Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Hi all, I also experienced this problem. 020-06-21 00: 59: 39.379 Debug ImageProcessor: Getting image size for item User /var/lib/emby-server/config/users/a6d2c1cae77d45948b4027aa6e59687a/poster.jfif ... it's been processed millions of times Because of this problem, the server was online for 30 seconds and then went down. Has that been resolved?
ray-finkle 10 Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 If you are having this problem now, sounds like you answered your own question. You should be able to fix this by doing what I and the other guy did.
igeoorge 26 Posted June 21, 2020 Posted June 21, 2020 Hi, I expressed myself wrong. We managed to solve it by doing exactly what they did. What I would like to know is; Will this bug be fixed in the next versions of Emby?
Luke 42079 Posted July 12, 2020 Posted July 12, 2020 Yes it will be resolved for the next release, thanks.
