Veggav 8 Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 I'm having a hard time to understand why the GTX 1060 on my Unraid server can be utilized for transcoding 1080p content but fail with HEVC 4K content. The gpu does support hardware transcoding of HEVC content. It shows under the advanced settings in the transcoding emby menu. This is the log for the server: https://pastebin.com/9Pi59kex This is the log for the transcoding: https://pastebin.com/G6Np1Yzf
Luke 42078 Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Hi there, did you follow our hardware acceleration setup guide?
Veggav 8 Posted February 12, 2020 Author Posted February 12, 2020 Hi Luke, I've followed this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOhHiFAXwOE&t=613s Since it focus on Unraid. And I red this link you posted but there's not much of a step by step instruction inside the linux portion of nvidia it just says to install the drivers.
Veggav 8 Posted February 13, 2020 Author Posted February 13, 2020 (edited) Yes, 440.44 installed here. I guess this is caused by 10bit video not being correctly identified by Emby or something. I understand that hdr metadata won't be tonemapped but this doesn't explain why it's not transcoding. I installed Plex (and got a month of plex pass) just for a quick test and it transcodes the same videos as emby is failing. Maybe the logs I posted above could give some clue to why this is happening? Edited February 13, 2020 by Veggav
Luke 42078 Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Ok this should be improved for the next release. Thanks.
