re-build movie library.. want to keep custom fanart

I need to re-build movie database... metadata not working. did a test movie folder ; added in one movie and it found the movie and added metadata.. however i have 2500 movies all with custom movie fanart.

can i re-build the database but KEEP the metadata fanart??

Do you store metadata with your media?  That's exactly what that's for.
