William LeDuc @gmail 2 Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 I am using a 2nd gen Fire TV Cube with the latest version of the Emby app. While playing a movie "Forgetting Sara Marshal" playback stopped for at least a minute. See attached log file. embyserver-Fire-TV-Error.txt
William LeDuc @gmail 2 Posted February 8, 2020 Author Posted February 8, 2020 Emby was doing Direct Play - mpeg2 with DD 5.1
ebr 16184 Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Hi. Is it possible there was a network disruption of some sort?
William LeDuc @gmail 2 Posted February 8, 2020 Author Posted February 8, 2020 Very unlikely. We are very dependent on the network and have never seen a disruption, but there are some new situations for this case. I am new to the Fire TV Cube. It is connected via wifi where as all my other devices are hardwired. There is a really solid access point just above the Fire TV cube. I believe I have seen Emby slowdowns when there is a scheduled task or waiting for a restart, but not for a minute. Also wondered if my windows 8.1 server was busy doing something, but again probably not for a whole minute. I checked and playback was not paused it it thought it was playing. With my somewhat short experience with the cube I have seen some various weirdness compared to using Emby on the LG TV which is generally very solid. You didn't see anything unusual in the log?
ebr 16184 Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Hard to say but this happened right when your freeze occurred: 2020-02-07 22:33:03.724 Info LibraryMonitor: Recorded TV (D:\Recorded TV) will be refreshed. But then it looks like the app just stopped requesting or went away for a while.
William LeDuc @gmail 2 Posted February 9, 2020 Author Posted February 9, 2020 This is the only video file I have played for an extended period. Been doing mostly streaming. Thank you for checking into the issue. I will wait to see if it happens again. IMO the Fire TV is flaky compared to the LG TV. Using the LG TV and Emby I can Direct Play a huge variety of video files perfectly. 70gb 4k HDR to mpeg2 and everything in between. And I commend on your development of the LG app. Excellent interface.
