ozemby 0 Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 I have Emby server installed on QNAP NAS and the client is the Emby app on Xbox One X. I have a lifetime subscription. With any clip I watch it doesn't remember where I am up to. I can play a clip for 10min, then press the back button on the Xbox remote to take me back to the information page for the clip, and then when I press play again it starts from the beginning. I would expect it to remember I had watched 10min, and resume the clip from there.
Luke 42077 Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Hi there, how does it compare on the server machine using the web app?
ozemby 0 Posted February 8, 2020 Author Posted February 8, 2020 Web client works and iPhone client works; there is a "resume from" button to the left of a "play from beginning" button. The "resume from" button does not appear on the Xbox. The only difference I can see is that I am logging in with the admin account on the web client and on the iPhone, but a dedicated Xbox account for the Xbox. Is there a setting somewhere that governs this behaviour?
ozemby 0 Posted February 8, 2020 Author Posted February 8, 2020 I did some further testing on the Xbox: Settings -> Select Server: I can either select my NAS (Emby server) or “Sign in with Emby Connect”. Previously I had selected my NAS. Now I selected "Sign in with Emby Connect". This shows a pin to enter. I have not used this option since pins is the reason I moved from Plex, which has started to force me to validate a new pin every 12-48 hours. Instead I clicked “Skip” under “Generate New Pin”, and I can now resume clips. What is the difference between these 3 options: 1) My own NAS (Emby Server). 2) Emby Connect using a pin. 3) Emby Connect and skipping the pin?
Luke 42077 Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Hi, there's no difference, it's just two different ways of logging in to your server. I would check out our Emby Connect help topic to learn about it so that you can decide if you want to use it or not. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
