zimny 3 Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 (edited) Hi I can't consider it like a bug but I can share my story for future consideration. I have library with more then 10000 titles on it ( few network drives to handle it ). After rebooting, one of my drives went offline and me without any knowledge of it perform library update. So I lost all media from the that drive which wasn't connected at the time. Ok this is update/cleaning of your library. But... With this amount of media not all of them are recognized correctly so I have done some tuneups in the past which I need to do it again. Not sure how to indicate this kind of problem but I'm just sharing and maybe there is an idea to prevent this kind of issues Edited February 8, 2020 by zimny 1
Luke 42080 Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Hi, yes I think this is an area we need to improve in. Thanks for the feedback.
MikePlanet 144 Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 This is a known issue that we discussed quite some time ago. I searched the post, but didn't find it anymore... Basically it affects users with pathes not always on - e.g. attached external drives or NAS, that go to sleep. The solution for this is to add a flag to the path, that defines if the content should be "set offline" or removed, when the path is unavailable. Setting the content to offline should be very fast, as it can be done on the path with all underlying items. When the path comes online again, it'll be set online and all is good without any reindexing of the content.
zimny 3 Posted February 10, 2020 Author Posted February 10, 2020 Hi all, The solution for this is to add a flag to the path, that defines if the content should be "set offline" or removed, when the path is unavailable. If the solution is so simple why isn't implemented yet? Also even simple icons in library section of the server with info if the path is online or offline could help.
Luke 42080 Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 It's a great idea for the future. Thanks for the feedback.
