AviatorBimmer 28 Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 I have a bunch of 1080p and 4K UHD movies all in .mkv format. I am looking in trying to have my library as compatible as I can when streaming from Emby to a myriad of different clients. It seems that the most compatible container is the .mp4 container. What would be the best way to change all my movies from .mkv to .mp4 without any transcoding? In other words, I want to keep everything exactly the way they are, just have them in a .mp4 container. Thanks for any help!
Luke 42078 Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 Hi, you could try using our media conversion feature.
AviatorBimmer 28 Posted February 7, 2020 Author Posted February 7, 2020 Hi, you could try using our media conversion feature. Duh! Why didn't I think of that! But will it take a 4K UHD movie and convert it to .mp4 untouched? In other words, can Emby take my 4K UHD movie, convert it to mp4 and I will still have a 1:1 copy (video and audio) just in a mp4 container?
Luke 42078 Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 If you select the mobile profile when converting and also select original quality, then yes i believe so, but it will depend on other factors such as the audio format and subtitle format(s).
