Hello,

I am heavily using collections for split scene movies - yes, collections are providing a better options for me, than joining into single movie and using chapters.

I have spotted a strange behaviour for collection item pictures. Basically they are displayed as movie primary image, when collection is created and when items are not touched within collection view:

But when I open "Edit Images" on an item, they switch to landscape aspect:

I have my library view set to "primary".

Is this something, which can be fixed or unified - so neither item image edit does not cause the presentation change?

Thanks.

Hi, cab we see an example? Thanks.

Above is the example, which I created. Just with hidden images and text.

I can reproduce using these steps:

1. add scenes or own movies to the library (which is set as  movies)

2. edit metadata for added

3. select added and create collection -> items pictures are in portrait

4. on collection item select from "..." menu "Edit images"

5. quit editing without any changes

6. go to home screen

7. open collection -> item image is in landscape for the item for which Edit Images has been opened

I am on the latest Emby server stable version

I can not reproduce seeing landscape item images in a Collection with these steps.

What images are in the item folders?

It's just hard to visualize and reproduce without seeing a specific example.

There are only -poster and -backdrop jpegs in the folder.

I have one folder for all items.

I understand, I am not sure, how to provide the example though.

I'm more interested in why you're using this workaround than why it doesn't work.  There are two better ways of dealing with split movies.  Why aren't you either joining them into a single movie or just naming them so Emby plays the parts back to back automatically?

Or even group them (multi-version )so you have the drop down and select each part.

I am using this way, because I can set different metadata for each part. And also Emby is generating more chapters for each part, so the navigation is more convenient.

I've tried to join and insert chapter for each part - yet, I have only two or more chapters (dependent on number of parts) for selecting and have to use common genres for all of them.

I assume the same will be with multi-version.

I agree, that I am still looking fo the best option for handling those.

I have tested today once again today - inserted several parts to library and I can see the same even without creating the collection.

1. Inserted parts and scanned library for changes - I have landscape pictures generated:

5e41ca7d5d1ce_Screenshot20200210at220715

2. Created collection and clicked - Edit image for the first part from it:

5e41cac4f1670_Screenshot20200210at220829

3. All images switched to landscape for existing parts and I have tried to add the third part and add to collection. The result is:

5e41cb22db5ae_Screenshot20200210at221227

I have opened and close Edit pictures for the second part, added 4th part and also deleted the collection. The result is:

5e41cb8f09f52_Screenshot20200210at221653

It seems, this is not limited to collections, but just opening Edit pictures and closing without any change will cause this.

It's probably related to the fact, that movie library type is expecting movie poster as primary image, while parts have posters generated in landscape.

movie library type is expecting movie poster as primary image

Yes this is true, but when we generate a thumbnail for a video we preserve the video's aspect ratio, so i think that's why you're seeing this.

That makes sense.

However, I would not expect the change in view, when opening Edit images and closing without making changes.

I would expect preserving video aspect ratio for generated posters and view like this alongside other movies with "standard" posters:

5e427039255a6_Screenshot20200210at221653

I would also expect all posters automatically change to this view, when all posters do have video aspect ratio:

I can do this with selecting Edit images for all of them now...

I would try this again with the next release as it might be improved, although i'm not quite sure. Thanks.
