DTS Passtrough pauses video

Hello, I've a problem with an AndroidTV box with Oreo.

When I play with Emby for AndroidTV a movie with DTS track, the movie remains in pause forever.

On my Onkyo receiver I don't see DTS on display.

If I change the audio track in Dobly Digital, the movie plays well and I can see Dolby Digital on my receiver.

I've installed Kodi with Emby addon on same box and the same movie plays good in DTS, also on receiver I see DTS.

I tried to enable and disable DTS and DTS-HD Passtrough option in Emby for AndroidTV app, but the result is the same.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Bigger question is what is your server doing when you try to play the DTS track?  Check your dashboard to see if it's trancoding, and if it is, determine whether your server is capable of doing that.

Hi.  If you disabled DTS passthru then the audio may be a red herring.  Can we please see whatever logs are created from this playback?

Thanks.

Sure. Which kind of logs?

Emby server or Emby client?

If so, where can I find them?

And to answer the first question: The movie is played at direct play. No trascoding

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks !

I've sent the logs via Emby App with debug active.

The movie is:

I've tried 2 times:

With DTS Passthrough disabled, I can hear the audio because Emby Server transcodes it in Dolby Digital

With DTS Passthrough enabled, the video freezes and no audio.

Can you attach the complete ffmpeg log as well? thanks.

Hi.  Your log was cut off.  Could I get  you to create the problem and then immediately send it again (without restarting the app)?

Thanks.

Sent now

I did 2 tests:

First with DTS PT disabled and emby transcoded in Dolby Digital

Second with DTS PT enabled and emby cannot play it

The movie is the same

What is this device?  Are you sure it supports DTS?

TIM BOX. It is a official Android TV made by Technicolor for TELECOM ITALIA provider

With Kodi installed in same device using Emby addon I can play the movie with DTS sound

Okay, I don't think the box is properly implementing DTS in the Android system.

Maybe. But why kodi works?

Hi.  Sorry, no.  I believe this particular device is not properly implementing DTS support (probably hasn't licensed it) because the maker of the box probably doesn't deliver any content with DTS tracks.  You can deselect the bitstreaming option so the items will play properly.

Hmmm.

In vlc it works (decodes DTS in PCM)

In Kodi it works with or without passtrough (with I see DTS on receiver, without I see PCM)

The soc is a Marvell Armada 1500 Ultra that claims to decode DTS

I could use an external player like vlc or archos, but I will lose some functionality and I prefer to use the internal player

Neither one of those is using the Android system to send the sound (VLC is decoding it with ffmpeg) and neither one is particularly concerned with licensing either...

Do you mean that kodi uses a pirate way to send DTS bitstream to my receiver?

Anyway may you suggest me some app to test or to get some useful info about BOX?
