ray_priddy 0 Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 I am running Emby Server 4.3.1.0. When running the Fire TV Emby App, I am unable to skip ahead to movies starting with any letter like I should be able to. No matter what letter I click, my movie list remains at the top instead of skipping down. This feature works as expected in a TV episodes library, but not the movies library. Any insight would be appreciated.
ray_priddy 0 Posted February 4, 2020 Author Posted February 4, 2020 This apparently has something to do with the title: ¡Three Amigos! When named like that, it shows up at the top of the library (as I would expect). I noticed that when I clicked a letter inside the web app that the movies change to the appropriate letter, but ¡Three Amigos! remains in the first slot. So, I changed the name of the movie in the meta-data to Three Amigos! and now both apps work as expected. This is an odd-ball one-off bug indeed. For my part, I'm OK with this work around, but that definitely seems to be the problem.Thank you!
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 (edited) Yes special characters will alway appear before A. There are other topics on this, only way around it is to apply a sort title or rename change Title as you did. Not client/app specific. Edited February 4, 2020 by Happy2Play
Luke 42078 Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 We are looking into improving this so that you don't have to do that. Thanks for the feedback.
ray_priddy 0 Posted February 4, 2020 Author Posted February 4, 2020 (edited) I understand that the special characters will appear before the A and do not have a problem with that. But please understand, the ¡ completely breaks all sorting on the Amazon fire TV app. It doesn't matter what you click, NOTHING happens. On the web app, it is different. If I click "M" on the web app, The movie with the ¡ will appear in slot 1, then all of the movies that start with M will appear behind it. If I think click movies that start with W, the same thing will happen. This is a bit different than the characters being sorted in an inconvenient way. It is actually not working correctly. And it is app specific. It does absolutely nothing on AFTV app. Edited February 4, 2020 by ray_priddy

It does absolutely nothing on AFTV app. Yes, that would most likely be because that character actually should NOT sort to the top of the list but the server is putting it there. Same thing as the Aeon Flux issue. In this case, we should just add that character to our sort ignore character list and that should take care of it going forward. 1
