naszdom 0 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 I've been trying out Emby v4.3.1.0 and when it works I'm impressed. The problem is getting it to work. Why does it take over two minutes before the video on the server starts playing? I have opened my HTTP port 8096 in my firewall. Do I need to portforward my router or anything?
Luke 42080 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Hi there, can we please look at an example? Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/790-how-to-report-a-problem/?view=getnewpost Thanks !
naszdom 0 Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 I sent a log at 14:16 GMT with username naszdom I picked a 1 hr video at random. As always there is a long delay before there is a flash of the video then the wheel returns for another short delay before it plays.
ebr 16185 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Hi. An ffmpeg log on your server should have also been created. Can we please see that? It looks like it is burning in or extracting subtitles which is probably what is holding it up. You can also try adjusting the "Extract Subtitles on the fly" option in the server.
naszdom 0 Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 For some reason I appear to have two logs for this. The one ending 5a_1 was timed at 14:08And the one ending 60_1 was timed at 14:09 Is this the flash I see? It crashes and then starts again? I have tried unticking Allow subtitle extraction on the fly but there is still the delay in starting. On the other hand the subtitles look exactly the same as before, so I might as well leave it unticked. ffmpeg-transcode-a737a5c3-4a48-4926-98ed-fcadfbebad60_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-a392360d-4afb-4934-8e35-342f5346b05a_1b.txt
Luke 42080 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Hi, try using external subtitles or no subtitles at all and I think you will see faster starting performance.
naszdom 0 Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 And then one of us at least will not understand what is being said or are you suggesting start pause and then enact subtitles.
Luke 42080 Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 I'm suggesting that external subtitles will perform better.
naszdom 0 Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 Yes it is certainly a lot quicker. Unfortunately a lot of our videos have two sets of subtitles (one set burnt in) and although the server reads external ass/ssa subtitles it ignores the formatting information such as colour and most importantly vertical position,
