gberg 6 Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Could anyone please explain the license terms for Emby Premiere Lifetime subscription. It says on the "Emby Terms of Service" page https://emby.media/premiereterms.html "Lifetime Term: Lifetime shall mean the entire period in which the respective product, services, and/or features, as indicated below and updated from time to time, are offered for license." But what does that really mean? Does it mean the license last as long as the the product "Empy" is offered? Or does it mean the License last as long as the current major version of Emby is the current version (I think I remember reading that somewhere), which would mean if I sign up for a lifetime license today when the current version is 4.3.1.0 the lifetime license will last until Emby reaches version 5.0? If none of the two above is correct, please explain in a understandable way how the lifetime license works.

Solution ebr 16199 Posted January 27, 2020 Solution Posted January 27, 2020 Ok, so so a lifetime Emby Premier license really i for life then? Hi. It is for the life of the product. Thanks.
gberg 6 Posted January 27, 2020 Author Posted January 27, 2020 (edited) Hi. It is for the life of the product. Thanks. So in other words, as long as Emby is alive a lifetime license will be valid, no matter what the version number? Edited January 27, 2020 by gberg
ebr 16199 Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Yes, for as long as that product "Emby Premiere" is offered, it will be valid. I'm being more specific than you because - while there are currently no plans to - it would be possible for us to create some other product in the future and that would not be covered. 2

Then I can only hope you don't change the name of the product "Emby Premiere" the day after I purchase a lifetime license...
ebr 16199 Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Ok, thanks. Then I can only hope you don't change the name of the product "Emby Premiere" the day after I purchase a lifetime license... We wouldn't change the existing product. Just leaving the possibility open for additional products. This would not impact your use of the current product. I just want it to be clear that it doesn't necessarily entitle you to everything we may ever produce in the future. Thanks. 2
