sfatula 207 Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Looking for all audio formats the native apple player can play (when contained in an MP4), with details. i.e., max bitrate for each, max sampling rate, max channels for each, etc. Not what Emby does, not HLS streaming. Apple developer doc for native player that has details. I can't seem to find it.
Luke 42077 Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 There's some info here: https://www.apple.com/apple-tv-4k/specs/
corey 317 Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Specs for non-4K version:https://www.apple.com/apple-tv-hd/specs/
sfatula 207 Posted January 22, 2020 Author Posted January 22, 2020 They give none of the info I asked for, but thanks anyway.
ebr 16169 Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 They give none of the info I asked for, but thanks anyway. I think in this case, it is going to be very hard to find. From Apple's perspective, there is no reason for them to have to publish anything more specific than they did in those docs. If you find something more specific, please let us know though.
corey 317 Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 They give none of the info I asked for, but thanks anyway. They give some of the information but not all of it. Unfortunately that's all we have to work with.
sfatula 207 Posted January 23, 2020 Author Posted January 23, 2020 Yeah, so, things as simple as saying Apple Lossless can be played. So, I put an ALAC 5.1 into an MP4, direct played it, and, it played 2 of the channels. So, it's true Apple lossless can be used, but, without knowing limitations of each format, trial and error. I would have thought somewhere in developer doc it would detail this, but couldn't find any.
