Ninko 78 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 Hi, I've been using Emby via Synology proxy server for ages and it works great. I'd like to try and use Emby via Alexa, but to do that I need to use Emby Connect, but so far regardless what settings I've changed, the server can't be reached by Emby Connect. Is it possible to use a proxy server as well as Emby Connect? Thanks Ninko
Ninko 78 Posted January 19, 2020 Author Posted January 19, 2020 Yes it is. How are you testing? How'd you mean?
Ninko 78 Posted January 21, 2020 Author Posted January 21, 2020 Right, I think I've managed to sort it but only if I point the proxy server to Emby's insecure port. In saying that, that's the way I had it setup even before, I never really understood why when using the proxy server a secure port can't point to Emby's secure port. Any thoughts? Thanks
Ninko 78 Posted January 21, 2020 Author Posted January 21, 2020 I'm referring to a REVERSE proxy here, sorry only just occurred to me there's another type!
Luke 42077 Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 If you're going to use a reverse proxy then typically you would point it to the insecure port and then let your proxy handle https . What reverse proxy software are you using?
Ninko 78 Posted January 21, 2020 Author Posted January 21, 2020 But why can't you use secure port to secure port, that's the bit I don't understand? I'm using the Synology built-in server.
Luke 42077 Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Because you secure it at the outermost level, which in this case would be the proxy.
Ninko 78 Posted January 21, 2020 Author Posted January 21, 2020 Right ok, fair enough. I'm still having a problem though. I can get to my server when logging into Emby Connect now when I couldn't before, I've also linked Alexa to Emby but Alexa still says she can't connect to my server? Thanks
Luke 42077 Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Can you sign in with emby connect using emby apps?
