Hey Guys,

Since the latest few updates ive' been trying to streamline my media list to be much cleaner and easier to navigate from both MB Classic and from the Web Client and IOS Ipad app.

Now im not sure if im doing this the best way or the most efficient but I guess im trying to make it work across all platforms and look nice.

Ill take some screen shots as thats probably the only way to describe whats going on and if there are ways to fix it.

This is all to do with my movies collection

Now to make it show the way i wanted to on the tablet and web client i had to do the following to the folder structure.

Some folders contain Links, Others contain Raw Movie files and the boxsets one contains boxset/collections

This is how i want it to show up in my web client / ipad app.

I've crossed out all the movie boxsets that should be part of the boxset collection

View once in the boxset.

This is how it shows up now

As you can see the folder boxsets doesnt exist and i get to see all the movie boxsets in my movie view.

Ill ask the question, is there a better way of setting this up for one, also am I the only one trying to do this?

Or do we need to have some kind of "Collection (Parent)" and "Collection (Child)" for this kind of setup?

Regards

Phil

Still having trouble with this.

I would like some kind of direction as the best way to organise or handle the situation.

I might have this wrong, but my playing around with Collections is that this is intentional - "Movies" will show all movies at all levels, even inside Collections.

Do you have the 'Collections' section inside MediaBrowser?

If not, install the AutoBoxSet plugin - if I've understood right, this will give you what you are after - a 'master' view of all your collections that you can navigate down.

The 'gotcha' is I found this behaves best if all your movies are just left in a single flat heirarchy, and let AutoBoxSet automatically figure out what it should display virtually within the UI as in a collection.

So my structure is:

Movies

> Movie1

> Movie2

And I let MediaBrowser do the rest automagically - for me it works like a charm. Hope that helps.

Edit: I've just realised that you want multiple 'master' Collections - apologies, AutoBoxSet won't do that for you, so this would be an incomplete solution. I'll leave it here in case you want to play around with the plugin, but 'pologies for that, should have re-read your post properly.

I think he wants collections nested inside of collections.

Some of our apps have a plain folder browsing option. I think that's what you're going to want. The web client has this option. Just click the user icon in the top right and add it to your home page.

Most of the library presentations across our apps are metadata driven, but for the apps that offer plain folder navigation, you should be able to do that.

Thanks for the help guys, ill have to have a play around with your suggestions over the next couple of days to see what works best.

I'm trying to avoid using the 'collections' tab part if i can, as im unsure of how that gets displayed in MB Classic. As Luke said, collections nested inside collections is what im trying to achieve.

Im just really trying to avoid going through rather largish library restructure etc etc Unless there are any other idea's out there that may work, or the devs think its a great idea and give the nested collections a go, wink wink nudge nudge, but i think i might just have to bite the bullet and do the restructure.

Ill report back with my findings when im done.

Has there been anymore thought to adding this ability (Nested Collections)?

I for one really would like this ability.

The larger a movie collection gets, the more important this feature becomes (to me at least!).
