i'm trying to build a emby server and i'm thinking of using a AMD Ryzen 5 does it works well and whats gpu do you recommend?

Because i'm reading of transcoding and i dont know whats that , but i want to load 1080p and 4k videos without problems

i want a basic server

Depending on which Ryzen 5, it will probably handle 1080p transcodes, but not 4K.

 

Whether or not transcoding is needed is dependent on what you are playing the content on and the network quality.  The best thing is to always use devices that can play directly.  Then you don't need a very powerful server.

It really depends on the video you're playing and what device you're playing on. Can you please go over an example? Thanks.
