Luke 42083 Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 Hi, this is generally personal preference. an someone please tell me the optimal settings for the Default Transcode Profile This will not affect Emby.
seacoug 2 Posted January 15, 2020 Author Posted January 15, 2020 (edited) So the settings in Emby are telling it to compress the video on the HD Home Run? I'm not sure I understand. I am only using this for Emby so regardless of what I choose the settings don't do anything? Surely I want to do compression on the unit. That is why I bought the more expensive unit. I have a GTX 1050 and a HD Home Run Extend. If I select allow hardware transcoding it is telling both pieces of hardware to encode right? I am not asking for mere curiosity. I am having a problem with the two tuners getting hung or something and I am running out of tuners as a result. I am getting an error message in my Roku clients. I will send logs if it continues to be a problem but I thought I would start by setting this up the right way. And thank you Luke Edited January 15, 2020 by seacoug
Luke 42083 Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 if you enable the option to allow hardware transcoding on the tuner, then Emby Server will pick the stream quality to request from your HDHR based on what is being requested by the Emby app you're playing from. In other words, it picks the closest one.
seacoug 2 Posted January 15, 2020 Author Posted January 15, 2020 Ok do you have any idea which of the default profiles of the Extend is nearest the default of Emby? Thanks
Luke 42083 Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 heavy i guess. there isn't' really a default because it makes the decision based on the criteria i mentioned above.
