Witch nas model do you recomend to use with emby ??  218+
i See that it has low memory

 

From what i see is not easy to expand it.
i see some problem with HW accelaration and so on

You can add another 4gb of memory to the 218+ for a max of 6 according to Synology (people say they have upgraded to 8gb).  The 718+ though will take the expansion cabinet.  I got a model with 4 bays, but wish I had spent a little more money and got one that will take the expansion cabinet

The only issue I have when transcoding is with high bitrate 4K to high bitrate 4K (like when burning in pgs subtitles, etc).  Everything else (4K to 1080p, etc) transcodes no problem using vaapi.  I prefer not to transcode though and everything direct plays if I use text based subtitles

I can confirm you can upgrade the 218+ to 8gb..As i have done mine. Well worth it. Not used it yet for Emby, hence why I am here. Oh and it is real easy to do.!
