Miratos 0 Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Hello there. I am new to Emby and moved over from Plex. I'm finding it a bit more complicated then Plex and having a little bit of weirdness I'm not sure how to troubleshoot. The first problem I'm having may be because the the user (me). In Plex when I would go into a TV show and go into that season it would list all the episode numbers and show them in order. In Emby when I go into a tv show and into that season it only shows the episode titles. This has led to me being unaware I'm missing an episode or two until I log onto Sonarr and notice I'm actually missing episodes in a season...and it explains why I'm going, "What happened? I don't remember this happening before?" Is there any way to fix that? or do I need to rename all my tv shows somehow to include numbers? the second problem is, I have a Movies directory. Under that Movies directory are all my sub-folders where I keep my movies. The movies directory will not load on the TV, period. It just spins and spins and never loads up. So my question is, can the movie directory be too large? (I mean, it's not that large compared to some people's libraries, but it's not tiny) I'd appreciate any help anyone offers, I just don't have much experience with Emby (and Plex took me a bit to figure out too)...but I am a computer and network person so if you try to help, at least you have that going for you thanks
Luke 42081 Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 Hi there, can you please go over your TV and Movie file and folder naming? Can we look at an example? Also how did you setup the libraries in Emby library setup? Thanks !

Luke 42081 Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Do you have .nfo files next to your episode files?
Miratos 0 Posted January 12, 2020 Author Posted January 12, 2020 in the case of both movies and tv shows, the .nfo files are in the same folders as all the episodes of a season or the movie in question.
Luke 42081 Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Can you provide an example nfo file? I believe that will provide us with the answer about your episodes. Thanks.

Luke 42081 Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Strange. Can you try refreshing the metadata on that episode? Does that change anything?
Happy2Play 9783 Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 (edited) Do you have Emby metadata providers disabled or uninstalled? I assume that information is coming from somewhere else. Edited January 14, 2020 by Happy2Play
Miratos 0 Posted January 14, 2020 Author Posted January 14, 2020 I did a refresh on the metadata. I didn't mention this before, because it didn't occur to me, not because I was being deliberately deceptive. But I am watching Emby on my TV, not a PC. So I am using the Kodi/Emby plugin on a Fire stick. On my PC, the #'s are listed in front of each episode title, but when I go through my TV, they are not. I apologize for that mistake. Refreshing the metadata did nothing with regards to how it displays on the TV. I do have metadata plugins installed. I don't see a specific Emby Metadata plugin.
ebr 16185 Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 I did a refresh on the metadata. I didn't mention this before, because it didn't occur to me, not because I was being deliberately deceptive. Okay, so that would be completely dependent on the Kodi skin you are using. Why not use our Fire TV app?
Luke 42081 Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 Ok so then it sounds like your episodes are fine and that is just the way that Kodi is displaying them.
Miratos 0 Posted January 14, 2020 Author Posted January 14, 2020 (edited) Okay, so it won't be the Emby app then, which is why I thought it was Emby not working (because I'm not playing them directly in Kodi. This is the way it was set up for me...I didn't set up the actual fire stick...that's new too...my smart TV is old and most of it's app's don't work anymore so I have to get a smart stick. I will try to change the skin and also see if I can use Emby on the fire stick directly. thank you for your help so far. Edit update: I changed the Skin in Kodi and went to the Emby plugin and ran it, sure enough, the interface looks difference and it shows episode numbers. I also found Emby directly on the fire stick apps and loaded it up and sure enough, it does show episode numbers. and I think the metadata refresh fixed some other issues, because most of the metadata was originally gotten from plex and I had some weirdness I don't see today. So, sorry for the wild goose chase, but thank you for helping me figure out what I didn't know. Edited January 15, 2020 by Miratos
Luke 42081 Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 Thanks for the feedback. Now let's look at your movies. Is that still unsolved I assume?
Miratos 0 Posted January 20, 2020 Author Posted January 20, 2020 Sorry for the delay in response, work sent me out of town. Moving to the Emby plugin directly, movies now load and changing the skin of the Emby for Kodi plugin also solved that problem. It was the default skin for Kodi too.
