Hello firends

 

i am a new emby user and i am wondering if there is anything the explains how the age ratings map to those used by Emby as i think I have a problem.

 

i have a user who has the restriction on his account to allow him to see GB-R18 items and below. But he is not able to see speciifc series that are rated 16, 18 or 19. How can this be?

Ok no, we're treating them as the same so that would be why. Generally speaking any rating with a number in it will be treated the same as if the rating were just the number. And the reason for that is because sometimes that's all users have in their metadata because that's just how it was from wherever they got it.

perhaps i am not understanding but if the scale is:

 

and the user has a maximum allowed rating in emby of GB-R18, then i would expect him to be able to see items rated 18. but he cannot. can you explain please?

i have a user that has a maximum allowed rating of GB-R18 as can be seen in post #5

 

he has access to a library and i noticed that he cannot see all if the series so i investgated and found that a number of items rated either 16, 18, or even 19 are hidden from his view.

 

Above in post #3 is shown one of the shows he cannot see. the link on the page can be followed to tmdb where the rating of 18 is confirmed. i can post more of the shows that cannot be seen but i am not sure it would help more? please let me know if it would

But in theory a user should be able to see everything with a rating equal to GB-18 or lower unless they are considered unknown and those options are enabled.

in emby the ratings are missing the "GB-" prefix as shown in post #3. could this be the cause?

@@Luke would have to comment on the prefixed language identifiers to the numeric ratings.

 

When you set the max rating what media is the user presented?  Is it specific items that are missing?

GB-R18 is the max rating for my locale. if i set it to "blank" then the user can see all shows.

 

yes the specific shows that are missing are the ones that are rated 16, 18 and 19. no prefix.

please let me know if there is any further information i need to provide to fulfil your request. the issue as i see it seems quite simple, emby seems to think that the three ratings i have highlighted are in exceedance of GB-R18. but logically this cannot be correct

@@Luke i was considering a premier licence but this is a disappointing indication of the service provided by the devs here. please could you do me the courtesy of at least acknowledging there is a problem with emby here? i'm not expecting it to be fixed imeediately but clearly i'm not going to purchase a licence under the current circumstances.

 

is there anyone else available to respon in lukes place perhaps? @@ebr i understand you are also a dev here

For the time being, why not just go manually set the rating in the metadata editor?

thanks, i can do that. but there are quite a few shows and based on the initial responses from luke it seemed like there was hope this could be fixed quickly. doesnt seem to be the case though
