Nvidia Shield - Transcoding because "Audio Channels over limit"

Please be gentle, I tried to search and Google as much as possible before hand but it didnt help.
I am not an audio/videophile.

I am getting an error message in the "Stats for Nerds" saying "Audio Channels over limit" so it appears to be transcoding.

The issue that is causing - when it transcods, it uses the entire 7GB of free space on my Shield. App closes, then I have to turn off the server to clear the temp files then watch ~20 minutes and repeat.

I have an Nvidia Shield 2017 running the Emby app.

Emby Server on the same device.

Shield is connected via HDMI to Samsung Series 9 HW-N950 Soundbar .

Shield is connected via ethernet to NAS.

App's settings are set to Auto Output Auto, Allowed DTS Pass-through, Enabled DTS-HD Pass-through.

I thought it might have been the subtitles, but I turned them off and it still had the same issue.

I was expecting that this would just direct play, no transcoding.

So am I wrong about that, or if not is there something in the log files that points to why it would be doing that?

Hi.  The issue is the DD+ 7.1 stream.  There is a bug in the player currently that makes those not play properly without transcoding them down.  Google has recognized the problem and promised a fix but I cannot say exactly when.

If you are using your Shield as your server as well as it sounds like you are, you may need to attach some external storage to use for transcoding files to give yourself a bit more "breathing" room.
