I am looking for a remote recommendation. I have a pretty simple setup, Samsung TV (2017 MU8000), Apple TV 4K, Bose Soundtouch 300 (with bass module and virtually invisible surrounds). Synology NAS for Emby server, then use Streaming apps on Apple TV and Xfinity Stream from TV (since not available on Apple TV) I have a harmony 650 that my kids broke, and to be honest I've always hated it. Didn't like the screen and my wife got constantly confused with it. I was going to switch to the Samsung Smart remote and have everything working through CEC (Bose and Apple TV) but the CEC with the Bose was hit and miss, more miss than hit.

I liked the simplicity of the Samsung remote it just didn't work very well.

I like the Harmony remotes (have had several of them over the last 10 years) But maybe more basic remote would be better ie. the Companion? Also nervous about the hub not working to well with my setup. It's all on my mantle. Bose with ATV on top, then TV above it. Will the hub be able to hit all devices without blasters? Attached picture for possible hub placement.

Also thinking about RoomireRemote. Anyone here using it? Integrate with emby? Also unsure about how my wife would feel about using her phone or ipad as the remote.

Any other remotes that would work good? Maybe with the ability to use siri with?

You can put the hub anywhere in the room, including behind your sitting area.  I have my hub in a cabinet w/ my receiver and shield tv, controls them both just by bouncing infrared around the cabinet insides.  The tv is controlled IR via the remote.  The remote and hub are wifi, so don't need to be LOS, and the remote is still an IR remote for stuff in front of you.  It's ridiculously flixible and I'm pissed I didn't grab one before installing all the bullshit generic repeaters.  Worst case, grab one at best buy and test drive it for a few days... return if unhappy.

You can connect the Shield to the Logitech hub via Bluetooth, too. That's what I've done. Very fast response to the remote.

Another vote for Harmony hub. I have the basic Smart Control+Hub, no IR on the remote itself. The hub is inside a separate cabinet beside the TV, no LOS. Even through the glass door it floods the room with IR and the TV works fine without the need for blasters. The Nvidia Shield uses the Bluetooth signal.

Good to know. Probably just going to dive in with the Harmony then.

That is insane. I think that just about sums it up then. Going with the Harmony hub.

Also a vote for Harmony hub.  I love my basic smart control with hub.

I've seen them on sale frequently for around $50.

Pretty sure I paid around $100 for mine a few years ago.  Great comfortable remote that just works well.
