Chromecast and Blue Spinning Circle

My tablet and chromecast are on WORKwifi my server is at home.

Use the same external address within the app. I know your proble, I had the same. If you use a dyndns service, use this also for internal connection.

Please make sure all required ports are forwarded on your router.

Since, as stated previously, I am not on my home network I have been using the external address.  As far as I know the tablet itself wouldn't even work any other way.  I forward 8096, is there something else I should forward?

Have you tried setting your external ip in the internal field in the app? It looks the app uses the internal ip when sending the url to the chromecast even if you are connected to the external address.
