Logged in User's Personal Preferences

when i am logged into the server as admin i am able to amend the personal preferences for other users but not admin's. is the link missing or should i be accessing these settings some other way?

You can get to your preferences by clicking on your username/picture on the dashboard and then clicking the my preferences button.
