hstamas 179 Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 playback on an Nvidia shield. If the audio of a show is Dolby Digitsl Plus, the playback will transcode as expected but there is considerable skipping of the video, almost like its rewinding a second or two. anyone else experience this?
Luke 42079 Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Hi there, can we please go over an example? Thanks.
hstamas 179 Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Hi there, can we please go over an example? Thanks. heres the ffmpg log for the offending video Luke. like I said this happens with any video that has a dd+ audio track. it does seem to smooth out as you get through the video but it is consistent at the beginning. untitled text.txt
ebr 16184 Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Hi. It looks like your server is not able to transcode fast enough. What is the server hardware involved? Also, what is the Shield hooked up to? What kind of audio system?

Also, what is the Shield hooked up to? What kind of audio system? 2012 Mac mini i7 16Gb ram hardwired network. Shield is hooked up to my Vizio TV via HDMI. pretty straight forward. I’m surprised to hear that an i7 Mac can’t keep up with a simple dd+ to dd audio transcode?
ebr 16184 Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 My 2012 Mac Mini is a very slow box by today's standards. I had to replace it because it became unusable in fact . In your example, video was being transcoded as well and that is what was too much for the hardware. If you are only hooked up to the TV speakers, then set the audio option in the app to "Downmix to stereo". That will eliminate the need to remux the audio on the server.

I also use a sound bar for movies only. Its hooked up to my Vizio TV which can pass through the DD stream to the sound bar via optical. Would you know if I switch the audio to downmix would it also happen to pass a DD stream as well. Im gusting not of course. Edited January 2, 2020 by hstamas
