Playback Error

Hi guys,

I'm running Emby in a VM (ubuntu server no GPU)

For one of my users, playing trans coded videos is disabled and now he gets:

Playback Error
No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details.

If i tick the option enable playing trans coded files, all the files play fine

What logs shell I provide?

Thank you

Hi, no logs needed. Did you make sure to read the help text underneath the checkboxes before disabling transcoding?

Hi Luke, yes I understand that but it was working before but now not a single file can be opened even in the local network. I rebooted the hosts, the server and there is no difference

Most of the files are h264

Can you please provide the specifics of an example? I can pretty much promise this will be a simple matter of him trying to play something that is not supported directly. If it were supported directly, then it would already be direct playing. But if you provide the details of an example, I'm happy to go through the exercise. Thanks.

For example a small 300Mb file cannot be played locally as any other file on the server:
Codec:H264 -MPEG-4 AVC
720x586

However this file can be played over WAN for some reason (not lan), some other files (usually big ones) cannot be played at all over WAN, the wheel is just spinning. I got 200Mbs upstream from the server.

I bet it was all playing just fine before directly.

I have attached logs, perhaps it might help

Thank you.

Hi ,what is this log example from?

Sorry, not sure what you mean? I took it yesterday from my linux emby server.

I have also installed portable Emby server and it gives same error, perhaps it is the video, but that is so strange that none of the files can be played, I specifically choose Emby so I can disable trans codding, I can be wrong but I think it was working before, could that be a change in ffmpeg?    :)

Just tested on Emby installed on Android Tv box and it plays most of the files fine (must be direct play as transcoding is disabled), does it mean it is client specific? I thought Chrome can play everything?
