Paths used by different emby features

My emby install is backed up regularly, as was my plex install. With some features using huge amounts of disk, I don't want everything backed up.

 

I can set a transcode temp dir, and set a 'sync' temp dir. Can these be the same dir?

 

Where does emby store DVR files?

Where does emby store thumbnails?

Can these both be customised?

 

Would the thumbnail, sync (now called download?) and transcode dirs benefit from being on an ssd instead of spinny disc?

 

I've also noticed a 'cache' path in settings-advanced.

Depending on your settings, either with your media or in /metadata/library database id folders (so your Metadata path)

 

But for a manual backup to be restored properly you need most of the programdata folder.  But as long as these custom paths still exist when you do a restore you should be fine.
