scroll bar flashing up on a-z

i’ve noticed that once i’ve finished playing a video and head back to the movies section a scroll bar quickly appears and then disappears over the A-Z list on the left of the screen on my shield.  i don’t remember this happening before and seems to be something recent.

 

it just looks a bit clumsy.

Hi.  We had to make that jump list scrollable because some folks have letter lists beyond what can be accessed on the screen.

 

Does the jump list have focus when you come back from playback?  It must be getting it at least temporarily if you are seeing the scroll bar.

i don’t really know to be honest, i’ll have to check next time i see it.  it just looks a bit strange, but i understand what you’re saying.

 

does android not have the ability to hide the scroll bar permanently?  (i’m a desktop and iOS dev, i have inherited an android app but haven’t thankfully had to delve too deeply into how it works)

yes, it has focus.  i actually have a a-z that is longer than the screen, but i’d prefer the scroll bar to be completely hidden or at the very last made so that it doesn’t overlap the text.

We'll try hiding it and hope that it will be obvious that you can scroll.

it looks much better with the reverted behaviour!  it just looked odd with a scroll bar flashing up.
