Hello,

I just updated to the new version of Emby and I'm having some trouble getting the live tv up and running. I played around with the plugin setting and I couldn't anywhere, so I tried to remove the plugin from the Live TV page and now when I try to add it back, I get the following error image.png.4985cb4ba2cb5fe301d58f36d4f9e5e7.pngimage.thumb.png.1b65b813d42962d0dae9f1b785158470.png

All the channels got disconnected so I enabled1 trying to get it to work and nothing is there something other than the error above when trying to add it to the live tv page should I be doing something in the playback settings, export settings or general setting? It would be greatly apricated if you could help me get this resolved as it is a plugin that we use all the time it's truly a great addition to Emby.

I don't know if this will help but I have Emby installed and running on a terramaster NAS and I use Nvida Shield for the streamer

Thanks in advance for any help.

Was there a single checkbox to enable the channel or where there multiple for your Emby users? If the former, you did not clear the browser cache, if the later, manually delete the plugin dll, restart Emby, make sure it is removed from tuner sources and install it again from the catalog.

Hello,

OK! I did not clear the browser cache, I will delete and install again thank you.

I think I may still be doing something wrong so I

Step 1: I uninstalled the virtual TV plugin

Step 2: I restarted the emby server

image.png.1138f0592b6a3d5b3b5b07f18024d994.png

Step 3: I Checked to make sure the virtualtv was not showing on or in the live tv tab only things showing are H3U & HD Homerun

image.thumb.png.08648f1bf4ccb9c3985e738ff7bf5aab.png

Step 3: I Deleted the cache from both the google chrome and the Microsoft browsers

Step 5: I Then installed the virtualtv plugin

Step 6: I then did a restart to finish the install

image.png.27f2802d02580e31b5756e622fc5c761.png

Step 7: I tried to add the virtualtv on the live tv tab / page and I get the same error message - There was an error saving the TV provider. Please ensure it is accessible and try again.

I tried the uninstall and reinstall a couple times and same results not working same error I also shut emby down and stopped emby on the terramaster nas and did a restart on the terramaster nas as well.

I did remove the virtualtv api from 2021 and generated a new one because all of my original (old) channels where in the plugin after I reinstalled so I think I must have done something wrong or missed a step as I would assume I would have needed to recreate all channels, or should I have not removed the old api?

I look forward to hearing back from you and your help.

Wasn't there a VirtualTV tuner source already? The plugin auto registers a tuner source at Emby start, so there should not be any need to do this manually.

The api key is only needed for Continuous Playback or Universal Streaming in the Export settings. All of the plugin settings are stored in a xml file in a configurations subfolder where the dll file resides. The xml file even survives an uninstallation of the plugin from the Emby GUI.

The important question is: What do you see if you edit an existing channel in the plugin? Is there an option "Enable this channel" or is it "Enable this channel for selected users"?

I see and yes, it is Enable this channel for selected users"

Are you logged in as Tilford? If not, you won't see any channels. If yes, go to that user profile settings - parental control. What tags do you see and what "tag restriction mode" is set? Also under live tv settings - channels, what tags are set for that channel?

Are you logged in as Tilford? - Yes, Admin account with access to everything

If yes, go to that user profile settings - parental control. What tags do you see and what "tag restriction mode" is set? - I never set anything tags up for any users at all before, so do I need to add tags now? This is what I see for Parental Control settings only 2 selections and I didn't add eitherimage.thumb.png.e427e6f0be63daafddc1a6d419cf0312.png

Also, under live tv settings - channels, what tags are set for that channel? - I never set any tags for Live tv before at all either, but this is what I see for live

I hope this helps and should I be adding tags to the live tv settings and if so, where would I do that?

@STR8No, you don't have to set any tags. The plugin will do it for you. I've thought that is the problem why you do not see any channel in the guide. The problem is, the channels are not created because the tuner source is still missing, which should happen automatically. Please enable debug logging in Emby, restart Emby and then send me the log file.

Ok thanks again for your help it's greatly appreciated... So, I

Step 1: Clicked all debug options in the virtualtv plugin

Step 2: I restarted emby

Step 3: logged in and downloaded the logs and sent them to you... 3 logs popped up with the date and timeframe, so I just grab all.

@STR8The next plugin auto update should fix your issues after the regular Emby restart.

I just updated for the first time in several months. The new "enable channel for selected users" list is only showing me a handful of my users.

I also don't understand what the episode balancing does.

It will only list users with live tv access in their profile settings.

Lets say you have two tv shows for a channel. One has 80 (maybe unwatched) episodes, the other one has 20 episodes. A balancing of 100% will duplicate the episodes of the second tv show internally until it also has 80 episodes. After that the program data will be generated with 160 episodes in total.

So it means if you've got a TV show with hundreds of episodes and a TV show with a handful of episodes,  you're far more likely to see those handful of episodes repeated?

Yes.

Why would anyone want that? I find episodes on smaller shows repeating too much as it is. I assume setting to zero is what I want, then?

Did we? I remember something about randomness months ago, though no specifics. I do wish there was a way to make it less clumpy.

Unrelated, rather than "Edit Virtual Channel," is it possible to have the title of the editing window be "Edit $NameOfChannel"? I keep forgetting which channel I'm editing when I'm in the settings. I know the information is obviously there in the settings, but at the moment you have to scroll around to find it rather than it being persistent at the top of the window.

Yes, exactly, we had this discussion a while ago and I love this option.

the new update allowed the virtuatv to be added to the live tv page and the channels seem to be enabled but aren't producing content not mapped to the guide. Is there something I should be adding or doing within the channel setting?

That depends on how old your version of the plugin was before the first auto update. Have you checked that all rules are still the way you want them? Please do not try to map guide data to the channels! It has always been that way.

Sorry to be a bother again, but I'm still stumped here.

I have no issues playing my TV channel through the Emby app on my phone and even though my desktop web browser.

But as soon as I attempt to use the channel through Kodi, I get nothing. Kodi shows the channel and the guide info but when i click to actually watch the channel. The channel does not play.

Here are my settings again within Emby.

I have my Kodi simple iptv plugin url as the following:

http://192.168.50.104:8096/emby/VirtualTV/Channels?StreamType=EmbyNextGen&RealLiveTv=true&Token=2950478371cb4cf3acecb92eab619ecd

I'm not sure what im missing here again.
