Please use this version: VirtualTV.2.1.0.1.zip and send me the Emby log after enabling debug logging in the plugin and hitting preview for a brocken channel.

I'll update and run this tomorrow. Thank you

@pünktchenI updated the plugin with the file you sent me and for shits, refreshed the guide and all channels are working.

Do you still want me to run the log?

No. Just for your information, you either have strm files in your collections or broken video files so that Emby cannot probe a runtime.

I'll have to take a look through. I know I have no strm files. Thanks for your help

I am trying to get this to play on my Apple TV App but the screen just goes black when I select the channel I made and then jumps back to the main screen but the sound of the episode that is playing on the channel I made is playing in the background of the main screen. How do I fix this? If anyone has encountered this.

I've mentioned you in an other thread. If you can help there, then the Emby Devs may take this problem seriously and try to fix it, which also fix VirtualTV on Apple TV.

Hey @pünktchenFirstly cheers for an awesome plugin, I love having that ability to create channels with content I actually want to watch!

However I have a feature request/suggestion (not sure if this has already been mentioned), but is it possible to create blocks in a daily schedule, for example within a 24 hour period you set 6am 10am "morning kids tc/breakfast block", 10am to to mid day as "daytime tv 1 block", mid day to 4pm "daytime tv 2 block", 4pm to 6pm "kids tv block", 6pm to 9pm "primetime block", 9pm to midnight "adult tv/movies"... etc... Does that make sense? As most TV channels here in the UK will be split up in blocks depending on the time of the day.

I see this working when you setup a channel instead of setting what content type you have a section for creating blocks and in here for each block you can specify the content type, whether its playlist/rules etc. There might be other ways to handle managing blocks, but this was just a thought.

This is based on a 24 hour example, but in theory you could roll this out to a weekly shedule so you create week days with different blocks/content than a weekend. This would be exactly how TV channels were and still are here in the UK.

My second feature request is a "channel offline" functionality where, say, between midnight and 6am the channel doesn't broadcast, instead is shows a holding image or video, that was very much done here in the UK where channels would stop broadcasting content during early morning hours.

Does this make sense? I feel the block scheduling is quite a big change so I probably know the answer, but the channel offline hopefully would be a little more simple.

Kind regards,

Ben

Reinstalled VirtualTV to help @pünktchentroubleshoot an issue and noticed if used on an AppleTV with Playlist (Live) mode playback will not start. Screen does a few glitchy flashes like it’s trying (you briefly see playback controls) then it returns to the screen you were on when you tried to start playback.

is this a known issue? I haven’t been using Emby very much this past year.

@pünktchen

I have installed the latest version today and I am having some difficulties. I have used the previous version for a while now with no issues, but with the latest version after refreshing the guide I have no programmes.

I did notice after manually updating that I had to add users to each channel and re-add the main TV user, but this did not help. I then deleted everything and started from scratch with one channel and still had the same issue.

I have reverted back for now and all is working again until I can find the reason behind this.

Using current Emby:beta if that helps and if you need any further info I can update again to post any further info.

I did see this in the emby log earlier though:

Error VirtualTV: TVService > Channel: , Error getting programs from cache file: /config/cache/virtualtv/VirtualTV-.json

A couple of suggestions I have so far on the updated version is:

Defaulting to all users selected, with option to disable users would be a good addition as manually clicking all users per channel is quite time consuming.

Is it possible in the future to change the channel numbers from the main channel list instead of opening each one because sometimes when I add more channels I need to re-number some of them?

BTW, copy channel option is a great addition too 😀

Thanks for the great plugin, it is now used daily 👍

@pünktchenAny plans on making a live version of playback method "Native (Archive)"?

I'd like to, but has to be implemented by the Emby devs. Of course i could do the same thing PseudoTV is doing, but that will not work on Roku devices with a WAN connection. The Native mode, if it gets ever fully implemented by the Emby devs will work with any connection on any device. But you probably already how Emby development is done. They always throw in half baked features, but they never finalize them.

Just installed the latest from the plugin catalog. I was running verion 1x before and working fine.

The new one from the catalog, it just spins when trying to watch one of these virtual tv channels.

If I try any other channel I cannot watch Live TV until I restart the Emby service.

??

Hello all,

I have been having issues getting this plugin to work correctly.

1. I can set up a tv show to play, put in my api information. Set it to continuous play. attempt to play the channel and i always get the error 90 % of the time "No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details." error. After a reboot of Emby Server or a force reset of the TV guide the error still happens.

2. If I am able to get a channel to work once or twice. How can this be viewable on kodi? do we use this?

for tv

http://{ip or hostname}:{port}/emby/VirtualTV/Channels?StreamType=EmbyNextGen&RealLiveTv=true

and for epg:

http://{ip or hostname}:{port}/emby/VirtualTV/Guide?StreamType=EmbyNextGen&RealLiveTv=true

with the kodi iptv simple plugin?

Logs attached

Why do you want to use "Continuous Playback"? Anyway, i would need a new log with the plugins debug logging enabled after you have fixed the errors from your second question. Right now your log file is to big to find any useful information. Also please attach any ffmpeg or virtualtv log files that correspond to the time of your streaming errors.

You are missing the "Token" parameter! You get a token from the authentication info of the plugins export settings.

I only selected that, because I thought its the default and best to use. What playback method should I select?

I created one, and placed it in the following place. Yet I continue to see the same error in the logs as well... Am I missing something here?

Playlist Playback unless you have Roku devices.

You have to append "&Token=" to your request urls.

Hello! Suddenly VirtualTv failing to export Live TV channels guide. Nothing was changed in system.

This morning want in scheduled tasks and noticed that Export Live TV... failed.

Checked settings, everything is at it was. Emby logs saying "400 bad requests"

channels.m3u file updated as usual, no guide.xml file anymore.

Restarted Emby, changed API key. Tried to change stream type. Still failing. In Emby Live TV have everything working fine. All channels, guide works.

Thanks in advance for tips what to do.

It's the export setting "Try to match program entries to library items...". Some of your tv shows must have bad meta data with either no production year (release date) or where the production year is higher than the ending year.

Crap. Thanks @pünktchen. It's some new feature?  As I did nothing since installed plugin... .  It's been working fine for, I don't know, more than year.

No it's not new, but probably the first time ever for you that a program entry from your real live tv also exists in your libraries and the library item has broken metadata.

I can try to ignore that exception with an update next week. For the time being i would just disable that special export setting.

I just installed this and I'm trying to set it up with a playlist as the source. The "Include selected Playlist(s):" section doesn't seem to do anything, though. I'm not sure what's supposed to happen, but when I type in the name of the playlist nothing happens. I was assuming it would search available playlists and display results or something. What am I missing?

It will only show playlists where the selected user has access permissions. The input field is just a text filter for the listed playlists.

That's odd. I have 5 playlists created by this user but it doesn't list any playlists.
