MB3 On HTPC or Server

I am currently running MB3 Server on my HTPC . It has been working great.

 

I am going to build a server to store my media using FlexRaid F and my question is should I leave MB3 server on my HTPC or install it on my new server?

 

If i do install MB3 on my new server when I am watching media that needs to be transcoded will the servers CPU handle the transcoding?

Given the choice we always recommend putting it on a dedicated server, but it will work just fine either way.

Thank you Luke that was a quick response. As I was editing my questions you answered it.

 

My only other question is if I do install MB3 on my new server when I am watching media that needs transcoding then the server CPU would handle the transcoding??

 

The reason I ask is that my HTPC has a more powerful CPU . The HTPC has an intel I 7 4770k and the server is an intel i5 3470 quad core.

you'll have to experiment with it but i'd still put it on the server. an i5 is still pretty powerful, and our apps try their best to avoid transcoding whenever they can.

Ok Luke, when I build the server I will remove MB3 server from the HTPC and install it on the server.
