Question about migrating collections

I migrated my Emby server install from one Windows install to another, just by doing a fresh install and running the server backup/restore plugin. The server backup tool did not transfer my collections so I tried copying and pasting my old install's collections folder to C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\data\. Emby did not pick up on the collections this was. So I recreated each collection with 1 film per collection to start them and generate a collection folder and xml file. After some experimenting I noticed that once the collection's xml file was created on the new install, I could paste the content of the old install's xml so I wouldn't have to manually readd all the films again (which is a lot for some).

This worked until recently when all my collections disappeared. The collections folders are still there in C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\data\collections but the web gui and AndroidTV browsers show collections empty. So I tried recreating the collections once again. I added one film to the recreated collections and it showed up in the gui. Then I removed the collections folder out the programdata folder and did a scan. After a scan it recreated the collections folder I moved, and now shows duplicates in the GUI of everything that was in the collections folder and the ones I manually recreated.

So collections are supremely messed up for me.

Hi, did you read our guide on migrating collections?

The migration did not work in previous build a few months ago. It must have been fix recently because I did a collection reload after all the events above, and it worked this time.
