marleshi 0 Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 I have a number of MKV video files and some of them do not have any chapter information, while some others have only a single chapter that spans the duration of the whole video. I have noticed that Emby creates chapter image thumbnails in the case when the original video file does not have any chapters. However, it does not do this at all if the original video already has chapter data (in my case this is only a single chapter). This means that in my library I have a bunch of files with nice chapter images separated by 5 minutes, and a bunch of files that have only one chapter thumbnail where the chapter starts at the beginning of the video. Is it possible for Emby to ignore the chapter information embedded in the file and to instead create chapter thumbnails for all video files?
ebr 16195 Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 Hi. No that is not possible right now. If the files have chapters defined, then we will respect that. Can you fix the incorrect chapter information?
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 Another alternative is use MKVToolMix - chapter editor and remove the single chapter you have - save the changes (almost instant) and emby should see the change - assuming you have real time monitor working on your OS - or refresh the item 3
marleshi 0 Posted December 17, 2019 Author Posted December 17, 2019 I know I can use ffmpeg to remove chapter information, but I was hoping to avoid another post-processing step in my chain.
ebr 16195 Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 I suppose it is possible in the future but adding options to ignore valid information in the input stream usually leads to us having to chase down issues where people choose that option and then report that the chapters are "not working" so we try to avoid such things.
