Happy2Play 9783 Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 Please perform the checks in the Connectivity wiki. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Connectivity
LFC7 0 Posted December 17, 2019 Author Posted December 17, 2019 (edited) Please perform the checks in the Connectivity wiki. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Connectivity i have no problems accessing it at home on any device it is only away from home. Using the advice from link you posted above i cant access the remote access on my phones browser so next step is port forwarding. i don't have much knowledge regarding this although i can follow instructions to set it up. my worry is aren't you leaving you network vulnerable to attacks by opening a port ? mastrmind11 722 Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 my worry is aren't you leaving you network vulnerable to attacks by opening a port ? i mean, in theory yes, but that's what a password is for. having a port or 2 open is not really a security risk, but I would suggest you set up SSL if you're exposing passworded pages to the internet. plenty of tutorials for that around here.
LFC7 0 Posted December 17, 2019 Author Posted December 17, 2019 (edited) Thanks As I said I don’t have any experience regarding this but I will look it up and see what I can do. Just confused why it isn’t working as it worked fine on Plex and I didn’t have to do anything apart from allow remote access. Edited December 17, 2019 by LFC7
rbjtech 5284 Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 Emby works very differently from Plex because all connections to Plex go via a central Plex server and thus SSL setup is automated. Emby is an isolated/private web server using your own equipment and has no dependencies to any 3rd party service - yes it 'can' use EmbyConnect (which just acts as re-direction service only) or it can be addressed directly. As a consequence, it needs a bit more setting up which generally can't be fully automated as Emby (rightfully) has no control over 'how' you get access to your own server. (A major plus in my book). 2

LFC7 0 Posted December 17, 2019 Author Posted December 17, 2019 i also setup emby connect but it wouldn't work either
ebr 16187 Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 i also setup emby connect but it wouldn't work either Hi. As mentioned by rbj, Connect is just a redirection service. Your server still needs to be accessible externally in order to access it. You will need to forward the port properly in your router. 1
Luke 42083 Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 This video might help you with port forwarding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfSLxs40sIw What kind of router do you have?
