While parental controls are useful as they are now I noticed that many entries in my library contain ratings that do not align to the US standard one PG, R, etc. These items are not being blocked by the application to show on my kid´s users while browsing the library.

I think it would be useful if the admin application would scan all existing rates present in the library to allow the user configuration to select only those that I would like to allow kids to accees, maybe via a grid of checkboxes showing all existing different ratings among my library. If new content is added, default would be to block it. This way it would force me to go back to my kid´s profile and allow access to it. This way I would not be allowing access to inapropiate content by accident. Today the app would only block unrated content while it allows any foreing ratings to show.

See my 5 year old view of the library... notice many mature oriented content shown. Most of these would have a foreign-based rating.

They actually don't have to align with the US standard, they just have to be present in our ratings database. Can you give some sample values from those titles?

Is there some place I can contrinute them... this way I´ll be adding them as I find them in my collection.

Some of the ratings I´m seeing are:

+ IT-T

+ KR-12세 이상 관람가

+ FR-U

+ DK-15

+ ES-R

+ KR-청소년 관람불가

+ AT-14

+ BR-R

+ KR-15세 이상 관람가

and many, many others. That´s why I was propossing to have MB scan all ratings, and show them under the ratings section with checkboxes so you can choose which to allow for a specific profile, when new movies are added, if the rating is not yet there it would be added and restricted by default.

I just ran into this as well although a bit different. Fast & Furious (2009) did not have a United States release date on themoviedb which is where the rating is stored. It did have a hungarian release date with associated rating so MediaBrowser grabbed the hungarian rating of HU-16. It put this rating in the xml file but in the web interface it is blank. Because it is not truely blank the movie is showing up on my daughters profile even though she is set to pg and below.

As a fix I added PG-13 to themoviedb and in the custom rating on my system.
