Include role under film posters on People pages

When I click on a person to load their page, it shows me the posters for the movies they were in. Under each poster is the title of the film. What it doesn't have is the name of the character they played.

 

On the movie page, the cast all have pictures below which are two lines: actor name and character name. I'd like to see a similar arrangement on people pages, with the film name and the character name.

i would prefer to see role (actor , director) and year against each media in year descending order on a persons bio.

 

if more than one role , show 'various' or 'more than 1' or 'multiple'.

 

imo this would give a better overview of a person.

looks like i am in minority here.

but are you sure the character names people had are more important than the role(s) (actor, screenwriter, director) they had during their career..when looking at the persons biography?

 

eg clint eastwood

i guess character name conveys more information than just actor

 

but for other situations role contains very [if not more] useful information when role is more than just actor.

Well at present, it doesn't display either of those things, so that's not relevant.

 

That said, 99.9% of people anyone would click on are actors, so just listing "actor" gives you no more information.

To reopen this topic, you don't need to overthink it based on previous comments. In the case of roles other than actor, the API already shows the person's correct role on the Movie / TV Show under their portrait. In the case of Clint Eastwood:

So taking the role that currently exists on a Item Detail view should be sufficient. This also holds true for multiple characters.

Has there been any progress on this recently? I would love to see the display done exactly as ginjaninja described it above, on April 15, 2020.

Is there any way that a normal person could help enact or promote this? I would really love this option on the People pages.

I have a similar/related feature request.

I noticed that--of course--all actors age across their career, or change their appearance drastically for a role.
Having old Arnie and old Edward show up as cast of T2 is somewhat ... weird?

TheTVDB.org solved this by adding in-character images to their media if available.

I'd also like to point out that the site also has a very good overview of the person's activity, e.g. as producer. Maybe an inspiration?

If this feature is ever added, I would prefer to have an option to turn it off and keep the actor's detail page less cluttered.
