sparra 0 Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 There is a big need for either multi segmented streaming or the ability to cache alot further ahead than is currently possible in either emby or plex. I currently run a server in the US and stream to AUS. My VPS is capable of 1gb/s upload and my home internet is 50mb/s download but because of bad peering and latency I can only stream movies upto 8mb/s MAX on a good day. If i use multi segmented downloads through filezilla i can saturate my 50mb/s connection. If you were to solve this problem, it would be a game changer and probably convert alot of longtime plex users like myself over to your platform.
Luke 42080 Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Hi, why do you see this as a game changer? How would you use it?
sparra 0 Posted December 13, 2019 Author Posted December 13, 2019 A lot of the time in high traffic times my connection to the server will drop to 2mb/s which results in buffering and an overall bad experience. Also it would allow me to stream higher quality content by splitting it up so I can get multiple threads at 2mb/s adding up to saturate my home connection if you know what I mean. There is feature requests in plex as well as a lot of talk of Reddit about it but it hasn't been addressed yet.
