'Server' dashboard is missing

  Can't get to the server menu. I just updated to 4.3.0.30 and that didn't fix it. I'm running on the local LAN if that matters.

What do you mean, "Can't get to the server menu"? What are you seeing?

 

Maybe you need to kill embyserver.exe and embytray.exe from the process list and re-load the server from Start>Programs.

there is no server menu on the sidebar menu. That's my problem. It's not even in the sidebar

Hi.  Are you logged in as a user with Admin rights?

yes, I am the only user. Somehow my admin rights got lost. How can I restore them or create a new admin user?

That doesn't make any since as Emby has to have at least one user assigned as admin at all times, otherwise you could never be able to administer the server.

 

But you can look at your users policy.xml. "\Emby-Server\programdata\config\users\"

We have had a few reports of that switch getting reset somehow.  If you find that it was reset for you, please report back all of the plug-ins that you have installed and any 3rd party utilities you may use.  Thanks.

Yes, IsAdmin was set to false on my account.

No I can't manually change this to false and start Emby and it remain false in a single user environment.  And Emby throws a error if you try to set it in the user settings with Emby running.

System.ArgumentException: System.ArgumentException: There must be at least one user in the system with administrative access.

Hmm, so the UI won't let you create this situation. Perhaps the backup plugin, if you restore users and all of the ones you restore are non-admin.

 

Or if you restore a non-admin user policy on top of an existing admin user, thus causing admin rights to get lost.

I could not get restore to restore single or 2 non admin users per policy.xml.
