Art6789 0 Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) Is there a way to delete just the tv show folder not the main folder? Folder 1 - TV Sub - BIG BANG (folder) (do not delete) Show - -Big Bang S01E01... DELETE this file without deleting BING BANG folder. Art6789 0 Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) How are your folders setup? Mine setup below. After watching an episode I hit delete and it deletes all 911 folders. But only if there is only one episode in the series folder. I would like to delete just the episode folder not the series folder. If there are two or more shows just one show is deleted. Art6789 0 Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 Yes it deletes all 911 folders from disk
Luke 42078 Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 What did you press delete on? Sounds like you pressed delete from the series screen and not the episode screen.
Art6789 0 Posted December 9, 2019 Author Posted December 9, 2019 (edited) I'm not sure, I'll have to check tonight. Hopefully that's it. Will let you know, thanks! Edited December 9, 2019 by Art6789

Art6789 0 Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 Ok Tried it last night and again deleted all folders. Maybe I have the file structure all wrong. Here's what my directory looks like. I need to delete only the folder containing the show. Folder+show This one is correct
Luke 42078 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Can you show a screenshot in the user interface of where you're deleting from? Thanks.
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 It seems to me that while apps like Emby (Or Plex or Kodi or other media management software) may correctly add files to the file system for DVR purposes it is improper for the apps to delete files. Deletion or the like operations belongs under the purview of the operating system because deletion is so final an operation. If you want to correctly delete a file all you need to do is use the operating system and navigate to the correct place in the files system and use the correct OS command to delete the file or folder. Easy and very much more in the control of the user and therefore safer and more reliable.
Art6789 0 Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 Can you show a screenshot in the user interface of where you're deleting from? Thanks. I'm using a roku ultra. But the same is true if I play on my windows computer. Either way when I hit delete it states "Deleting these items will delete them from both the file system and your media library... Are you sure you wish to continue?"

Luke 42078 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 No, it should say more than that. Please make sure you're running the latest version of Emby Server. Then supply the full contents of the confirmation dialog, and/or show a screenshot of the screen you're performing the delete operation from. Thanks.

Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) The button on that screen is to Delete the Series. Just like the web client Series have three levels Series, Season, and Episode. So depending on where you hit delete from determines the level deleted. I have not done any delete testing on the Roku to see if it provide the same feed back as the web client. Edited December 11, 2019 by Happy2Play
Luke 42078 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Yup, you're on the series screen there, so if you only want to delete the episode, then you need to do it from the episode screen. Additionally with the latest version of Emby Server, the web app will show you the path being deleted inside the confirmation prompt. So assuming you make sure to read that, you should be aware of exactly what is being deleted.

Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 (edited) Sorry it works as expected, correct? Only issue would appear to be the Roku not showing what is being deleted like the web client, correct? Edited December 11, 2019 by Happy2Play
Luke 42078 Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 I tried it from the episode screen and if there is on one episode it deletes everything That's not the episode screen, that's the series screen. Notice the Play All button.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 @@Art6789 Are you saying if there is only one episode the Series is deleted also, or since there is no episodes Emby loses the Series since it is technically a empty folder?

When there are no episodes the folder is deleted. So if I record one episode, watch it, then delete the episode the folder is deleted also. So next time it recordes I have to re-make the folder again for the next episode.

I will have to do some testing, but this would be a issue with the delete function on the Roku as I know this does not happen in the web client.
