rudco 4 Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 (edited) Sorry if this is in the wrong Forum, but: I have an Emby server set up on my Windows PC. I can access all my stuff perfectly from within my home network, and via phone line from my Android phone when I am away from home. Today I tried to have a friend install Emby for iOS 1.8.8 on his iPhone. He installed it, he put in my "Remote (WAN) access" IP, and he is able to connect to my Emby and *see* all my content. However, when he attempts to "play" any of my content, he gets some kind of message that he needs to sign up for a subscription or pay $4.99 to watch? Any idea what we are doing wrong? UPDATE: He *is* able to connect to the account via his Roku Stick at home, successfully watching. But the Emby for iOS 1.8.8, connecting via the same account, doesn't let him view movies. Thanks, Ed R. Edited December 7, 2019 by rudco
Happy2Play 9784 Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Yes mobile apps require unlock or premiere on the server they are connecting to. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Emby-Premiere-Feature-Matrix Do you have Emby Premiere on your server?
rudco 4 Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 Aah, no, my server is just Emby, not Premiere. So I'll assume I can access my Emby from *my* phone with no problems because I am coming in as the Administrator? It is only other users I've added that would need to "unlock"? Can they be unlocked without Premiere?
rbjtech 5284 Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 (edited) It has nothing to do with the users - it's the type of access - so via a phone Browser this does not need premier, even remote, but if you use any native Phone App (be it Android or Apple) then you need to either purchase the app (one off payment) or have Emby Premier (and then all the connecting App's will be Free) - see the link above to view for the full matrix. (this will explain why he is able to use his Roku..) Edited December 8, 2019 by rbjtech
