ulrick65 30 Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 I am looking to move a folder (actually rename, but same thing I guess) that contains media that is one of my libraries...I see that I can go into the library and simply put in the new path. I am wondering if there is any watchout, or issue that this may cause? It seems to me that I did this a few years ago (but I can't find the post) and it messed up my libraries, giving me duplicates, etc....but I don't recall exactly. Any thoughts and pointers on this?
Luke 42089 Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Hi,I would just move your files, then make whatever changes are needed in emby library setup, and then run a library scan.

So it will remove the media from the "old" library first then add to the new one? Curious if Emby for Kodi will play nice with the change...or if I will have to Reset the Local database (which I am getting fairly good at lately! )...I guess I will find that out afterwards. Thanks.
Luke 42089 Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 It all happens together as part of the scan. Curious if Emby for Kodi will play nice with the change. Should be OK but for big changes like this sometimes it's not a bad idea to do a manual sync. Is that correct @@Angelblue05?
crusher11 1102 Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 This will break any collections that include movies in the folder being moved or renamed.
Luke 42089 Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 You can learn how to fix up collections and playlists here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Collections-%E2%80%93-Manual-Migration

What I would recommend is whichever library you are going to move around, launch the add-on, open the context menu on that library > remove library from Kodi. Then make your changes. Once it is done, if it doesn't pick up on the new library, simply restart Kodi, then again, launch the add-on, open the context menu on the new library > sync library to Kodi. Of course if you are moving folders for several libraries, a local database reset may be faster. Both should give the same result.
