Shidapu 14 Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 How do i properly setup max bandwidth per user? Ive configured every user with a max bandwidth cap per user. And when looking in Settings -> Network -> Max speed for streaming outside of network, ive tried both my max upload of my bandwidth, that will result in users using lots of bandwidth, and ive tried capping it to lets say 10mbit. But im not understanding how this setting works, is it server wide setting for total bandwidth for all users, or per user bandwidth limitation?
Luke 42087 Posted December 7, 2019 Posted December 7, 2019 Hi, for any given user, if you configure, it would first use the server limit. Then if you've applied a limit per user, that value would override it. Does this answer your question?

I guess that answers it, but the server setting is per user or for all users combined? One of my users was using 49mbit/s when i was forcing 10mbit/s on that account, server setting was set at 100mbit/s.
ebr 16199 Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 So the server setting is per user too? No, it is per stream...
Shidapu 14 Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 No, it is per stream... Okies, thanks for the info!
Luke 42087 Posted December 8, 2019 Posted December 8, 2019 Was this not obvious from the help text underneath the options?
unibeta 7 Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 (edited) I have set 18 Mbps as limit in the network settings.Nevertheless, a user is currently being shown a medium with 38.6 Mbps via WAN. (under active devices)This should be limited by the global setting!? (The limit field in the user settings is empty) Edited December 30, 2019 by unibeta

unibeta 7 Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Unfortunately I do not know in which of the many log files the situation was. Therefore I will keep watching it and if this happens again I will post the file.Until then, thanks a lot.
