Bigmack3000 107 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Is there a setting to adjust the brightness of backdrop images/videos? It might be staring right at me, but I can't find it.
Luke 42078 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Hi, no there isn't. Are you trying to lighten or darken them?
Luke 42078 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 We don't have any settings to do this, but @@arrbee99 might be able to point you to some hacks he's come up with.
arrbee99 1815 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 (edited) Well, Happy2play (and others) actually comes up with this fabulous stuff, but this seems to work (assuming I'm copying the right stuff) - .overflowYScroll div.backgroundContainer.withBackdrop { background: rgba(0,0,0,.10);} It only works on a web page and you put it under Server admin page > Settings > Custom css (down at the bottom) Edit - its effect I guess would depend on any theme you're using, I just use Dark. arrbee99 1815 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Quite like these - /*Make background brighter*/.overflowYScroll div.backgroundContainer.withBackdrop { background: rgba(0,0,0,.10);}/*Remove poster / thumb from detail page*/#itemDetailPage div.detailImageContainer.detailimg-hidemobile.portraitDetailImageContainer {display: none; }/*Move text details down detail page*/.detailLogo {top: 40em !important ;}.detailPageContent {padding-top: 30em !important ;}/*Remove thumb for Episode*/#itemDetailPage div.thumbDetailImageContainer {display: none; }
Bigmack3000 107 Posted December 5, 2019 Author Posted December 5, 2019 Thanks. I'll play around with that
Happy2Play 9780 Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Have you had a look in the Custom CSS forum section? https://emby.media/community/index.php?/forum/144-web-app-css/
EZEd 60 Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I'm trying to do the same as OP but have a mixture of devices/platforms (Samsung TV, Android TV, Roku and ET and WebUI). Are saying that if I make these script changes in windows server they will only show up on the Web UI? None of the other clients will benefit from the changes? ebr 16179 Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Android TV and Roku should already have very visible backdrops in places where they are mostly utilized.
EZEd 60 Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Thanks for info. @@ebr, for me both are very dark on all platforms. Almost to the point of being indistinguishable. You have to look really hard just see that there is even a backdrop there. I have dark theme selected. Is that maybe the reason why? Is there a way to resurrect the way that Emby for WMC did it where the backdrop was mostly the same intensity as the OSD imagery but grounded mostly to the right of screen while OSD was grounded mostly left? That to me was the more effective method. It seems that view customization is something that could/should be brought forward to the new implementation from the original. Just my vote and 2cents. Thx again Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk 1
playloud 10 Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 It seems that view customization is something that could/should be brought forward to the new implementation from the original. Amen to that! For me, backdrops in Roku look excellent, whereas Emby Theater is like you describe....so dark as to be barely distinguishable. I think I chose Blue Radiance theme in ET to better see the backdrops, but of course they have a blue tint. I would prefer lighter with natural color, or at least choices.
ebr 16179 Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 In these views the backdrop is very dark?
GrimReaper 4740 Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 (edited) @arrbee99, contrary to the popular opinion (ain't that a wonder ), I'd like my backdrops dimmer then they are now (and have been gradually getting brighter up from 4.5.4.0). Seeing that every new version brings some changes, do you have most current expression to be used (4.6.4.0 & 4.7.0.14 beta)? Thanks Edited October 20, 2021 by GrimReaper Typo

Thanks Sigh - there's always one (probably should be a tut tut face but am too lazy to look properly). But - seems to be this at the moment - /* Make Backdrop Much Brighter */ div.backgroundContainer.withBackdrop {background: rgba(0,0,0,.10)!important;} Maybe more like .7 instead of .1 ... 2

We would have to add options to control it.
Ryan81094 3 Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 ok, a little confused as I can see its been mentioned for nearly 5 years by other users so if its ok can those options finally be added? it feels a little overdue...
