Do browsers count as devices for device limit purposes?

@@ebr If I'm testing on both Chrome and Firefox on the same PC for example, is that one device or two? What about using the app on my phone and also a mobile browser?

If you mean the 25 device limit for emby premier, no.

Only the installable apps count; the browser-based web app, whether that's a direct connection or via emby connect, doesn't count towards that limit.

Pretty sure the answer is yes and no, dependant on Premiere features like "DVR/LiveTV"..

Browsers do not currently count towards the limit.

I am still puzzled on how to really determine the number of device limit you currently have for example if you have a 25 device limit subscription .

When i check the Device Tab. It is more than the 25 device limit. The 10 people i invited have atleast 2/3 device enrolled.

So how do you really check if you already reached the limit or about to ?

Your Emby Premiere tab should give you an idea there.

You can calculate this yourself fairly accurately if you choose to do so.
Click on the DEVICES tab from the Web Dashboard. You'll get a screen similar to this (from my test machine):
image.thumb.png.22224c5a7541dd4737b65c297ac123cb.png

You can easily see the DEVICE TYPE as well as last user to use that device.
Refer to the Matrix here:  https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001173099-emby-premiere-feature-matrix

Now rename each device sticking a "N-", "P-", or "U-" in front of the device name skipping browsers for the LAST WEEK.
P=Premiere License
U=Unlocked App (not using Premiere Features)
N=Not using Premiere Features

So Each of the iOS, Android/Fire TV & Game Console apps in my case will use a Premiere License just to playback and none are unlocked so they all get a "P-".
Theater only works with Premiere so that get's the "P-".
Roku, Apple TV, Smart TV (LG and Samsung) apps get full playback free so they will get assigned a "N-" UNLESS a user specifically uses Premiere features (ie Live TV, Download, etc) in which case assign a "P-".  Refer to the matrix to see if the users uses Premiere Features.

DONE

Now count the devices from the last week with a "P-".  If you did this correctly you'll know your license count at that point in time.

Hi.  As GrimReaper said, the Premiere page in the dashboard will tell you if you are close to or over the limit.

Hello,

I've tried to follow the same procedure as @Carlo, but via the API.

I did this but unfortunately it returned more devices than I needed. Has anyone ever managed to get a more or less realistic figure in relation to the limit?

curl -s -X 'GET' 'https://streaming.domain/emby/Devices?api_key=XXXXX' -H 'accept: application/json' | jq '[.Items[] | select(.DateLastActivity >= "'$(date --date='1 week ago' --iso-8601='seconds')'" and (.AppName == "AndroidTv" or .AppName == "Emby for iOS" or .AppName == "Emby for Android" or .AppName == "Emby Theater"))] | length'

Hi.  He was suggesting you manually look at the devices page in your server and then see which ones are listed in the Matrix as requiring Premiere for the features you are using.

There is no way via API for your server to tell you Premiere devices.

Is there a limit to Emby Premiere?

I actually used this page to try to get the Prenium devices with the API.

But I think that the list of devices does not necessarily mean that for example an iOS device uses a prenium license. Let me explain:

If I log in with Emby's iOS app but don't launch a media, I think my device is listed here but it hasn't used a prenium license yet because I haven't launched anything.

Am I mistaken?

Correct.

How do I "knock" a device off the list?

You can't. The system tracks this automatically. Note, the devices you see listed in the "Devices" section of your dashboard are not your Premiere devices. Premiere devices are tracked by key, not by server and only if they use Premiere features.
