Replaced wireless router with Google wifi and a switch, now can't connect

I had previously been running a Dlink DIR-632 router, and running Emby on various Roku devices around the home, some wired connections, others wireless.  I've since switched to a Google wifi setup with the main node connected directly to the ISP modem, and an 8 port switch to the main node for the wired connections.  The roku's are all working fine (netflix, music apps, etc), but I can't figure out how to connect to my Emby server on any of them.  Emby server is being run on a desktop with a wired connection to the switch.

I'm not a super technical guy, but I can follow directions pretty well.  I'm not having any luck trying to connect to the server manually, and trying to sign into the server brings up an error that reads "there was an error processing the request.  please try again later. - Timeout waiting on a response from the server".

Tried using Emby Connect on a hard wired and a wifi Roku, both times entering the code on the server computer it said the PIN was confirmed, but neither device was able to connect to the server.

Do you have other devices on your LAN that are able to connect to Emby via LANIP:8096 (shown on the Dashboard)?

If I use a browser window on my iphone connected to my wifi, and try and punch in the In-Home (LAN) access number including the :8096 at the end it just brings me to a google search results page with images of Emby screenshots, etc.  I'm not sure what it's supposed to do, but I'm guessing it's not working properly.

Hi there, I would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter:

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Connectivity

Please try the steps listed there and let us know which ones succeed, and which ones do not. Thanks !

I've been trying to work though this on my own with no success for the last hour or so.

As I responded to @Happy2Play above, I'm not able to log in manually via my iphone on the same wifi network.  I'm using Win10 on all my computers, I used the instructions to create a new rule to open port 8096, and still get an error message that reads "there was an error processing the request. Please try again later. - Timeout waiting for a response from the server" on my hardwired Roku.

Should I be deleting the rule I just made?

My apologies, I'm in over my head here, lol.

Rebooted, no change, still can't connect to server.

Public network.

And are the Emby firewall rules for public network set to Allow or Block?  But either way your home network in theory should be set to Private.

Setting-Network & Internet-Ethernet, click on your connection change to Private.

I can't seem to figure out where you can change the Emby firewall rules.  I changed my network type to private all the same, still unable to connect to the server.

I really appreciate the help guys, thanks!

Hi, have you looked at windows firewall?

Well, if I knew what I was doing, I'd have just done it rather than looking for help, lol.  I thought that suggestion meant it was a setting within the Emby program, obviously incorrect.

I figured it out, there were 2 Emby related items in the firewall list that were not set to "allow", with that corrected everything appears to be working again!  Thanks for your assistance gents, hugely appreciated!

Where those your Public rules?  Did you restart your machine after changing your network to Private?
