johnny.rando918 0 Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 I have been at this off and on for a week now. I cannot remotely access my server. (Outside Network). My Emby Media Server is on a Linux machine. (Ubuntu 18.04). Im using a pfsense firewall. I have ports mapped, verified and open, ip address configured, all software is at latest version yet I still cannot connect to it. I've tried several different devices. (Windows 10, Ubuntu, iOS, Android, even Kodi). I've reviewed all logs and still am unable to pinpoint the problem. My firewall is configured to run as it's own proxy server (Squid) also I run adblocking (pfBlocker-ng) throughout my network. I honestly can't imagine why those features would affect the connection but those settings need to be communicated when seeking guidance. To be completely thorough I installed & configured Plex Media Server on same machine and without configuring any of the settings I was able to remotely access it. (Didn't even have to setup Port Forwarding). In hindsight I need to review Emby's Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions to ensure Whitelisting Emby's DNS Server isn't necessary because of adblocking. Possible that my firewall sees the connection as adware because of data analtyics capturing. Just assuming because that's now the status quo of business. Any help would be appreciated. Please review all steps already taken before commenting. It's moronic to suggest things that are day 1 stuff. Also no I will not upload any of my logs.
ebr 16187 Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Hi. External access issues, unfortunately, are very difficult to help troubleshoot due to the fact that they are almost always the result of some local software or configuration we have no knowledge of or access to. However, a lot of people out here have been through this and, if you provide specifics about your setup we can probably help you figure it out. First thing is, at exactly what point in our Connectivity Troubleshooter does it fail?
Luke 42083 Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 because of adblocking Possible that my firewall sees the connection as adware because of data analtyics capturing Emby Server does not have any ads or telemetry.
