rickgillyon 10 Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 I'm currently trying to migrate from Plex to Emby. I've got most things working fine, but one thing I do with Plex is run several instances of Plex on the same Win10 system so I can watch 3 things at once. I can do this despite PMP only allowing one instance by running them under multiple user accounts, i.e.: C:\Windows\System32\PsExec64.exe -i -u MAXIMUS\Plex1 -p <pass> -d "C:\Program Files\Plex\Plex\Plex.exe" -accepteula -nobanner I've tried this with Emby Theater, but when I launch the second instance it doesn't run. When I close the first instance, the second instance runs as though it was waiting for the first to finish. Is there any way I can get this to work?
Luke 42077 Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Hi there, welcome. The app has single instance enforcement built in so I'm not sure this is going to work.
rickgillyon 10 Posted November 30, 2019 Author Posted November 30, 2019 Thanks. Single instance should normally only apply to the same user, if we have two users and they both run it, that should work and keep running while switching users. You would think the fact that everything is in the user's ProgramData folder would help. Never mind, I'll find another way.
Rolando1948 1 Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 I have been running two concurrent instances of the Emby app in two instances of my Google Chrome browser. But some times have repeatly attemp to run the 2nd instance, fails to run, but eventually run after many attempts.

Rolando1948 1 Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Well, once one of the recordings is running in one instance ( tab window) of Chrome, many times Emby fails to playback concurrently another recording in the other Chrome (tab window), responding with "Playback Error", "No compatible streams are currently available, Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details." But when this occurs, after multiple attemps of sellecting the browser "Reload this page" and/or closing the current Emby page in Chrome and reopening the Emby Recording Page again in Chrome, I eventually get Emby to playback concurrently two different recordings. In this manner I playback concurently the recodings of local evening news of two different news channels in two Chrome tab-windows, alternating my focus to one or the other by muting the audio and/or skipping segments. I have found that if I already have one playback in Chrome and Emby insist in "Playback Error" for the other playback instance, I can then opt to run Emby Theater and it will immediately playback the 2nd recording everytime without any delay or issue. Before finding out about the Emby Theater solution for the 2nd concurrent recording playback, I would have the 1st recording playing back in Chrome and after Emby would fail to playback the 2nd recording in Chrome repeatly and respond with the prompt of "Playback Error", I would then go directly to my NAS server Emby folder of the recordings and playback the recording with VLC. Since I have VLC configured for multiple instances playback, I could have many concurrent widows playing back, but I prefer the Emby user interface with its 10 sec, forward and backward skip. If Emby Theater could be configured to run two or more concurrent instances, like VLC, HDhomerun and other apps, I would considered it the best and most ideal player.
Rolando1948 1 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 After my last post, and since I have now started to run Emby Theater, I am now encountering that the Emby Web App does not show the "Recordings", but if I go to the Emby Theater App the recordings are present there. But while the recordings appear in Emby Theater and not in the Web App, under the "Schedule" and the "Series" of Emby Theater App "No iems found", but if I go to the Web App, the "Schedule" and the "Series" are present there. In sumarry the "Recordings" now appear in the Emby Theater App, while the "Schedule" and "Series" appear in the Emby Web App. I now have to continue to schedule recordings as before in the Web App, but need to access and view the the recordings in Emby Theater App. Since I now lost being able to view the recordings in the Web App, I have also lost the ability to open two instances in tabs of the Chrome browser to view two of my recording concurrently. I am considering that if I remove the Emby Theater App, I might be able get back the correct operation of the Emby Web App, and again regain the ability of playing back to two recordings concurrently.

Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

Thanks !
