These are $100 off at bestbuy right now.  I'm thinking of picking some up.  Anyone ever use these in their synology before?

Go for it I say, never had any issues with mine but I’ve got only got up to 8tb disks in my Synology

I've always used WD Reds for many years and never had an issue.  If that's basically what's inside then I say go for it

Worst case you may need to do the "tape mod". Google "WD white label tape mod"

Finally have time to shuck these tonight.  Before I do I wanted to confirm that with an 1817+ I can insert new drives into empty slots without shutting it down.

But the system data specs say "Hot Swappable Drives".  Or is it just that drive?

Yea, I figured it would be okay to do, but couldn't find a clear answer on adding additional drives.  Only on swapping out a drive that goes bad.
